The rules were to “go through your screenshots folder, and then go into your sixth sub-folder, and pick your sixth screenshot in that folder and then publish it, and make six other suckers do the same.”

So since my shots are anal-retentively sorted by year, month, etc, I knew I’d be looking at a June 6th screenshot. Problem was, I didn’t have 6 years worth of screenshots. So I blindly picked a year (2010 as it were) and the result is the picture above. Names have been wiped out, even though it’s been a long time since my Boomkin was a NElf, or had that name. It appears that I was running dungeons with a friend about this time of night and had just defeated the ‘extra’ boss in Culling of Stratholme. Good stuff, that.

Not going to tag anyone, so if you read this and feel like participating, all the more power to you!

I’ll save guild/alt updates for another post, maybe even make another mogging post.

Wow, it’s been a bit since I’ve updated here, hasn’t it?

Let’s see…what’s happened since I’ve written last?

The guild I purchased for myself and my friends continues to grow – we’re just about half through level 24, and with any luck at all will hit 25 by the end of February. A few more friends have moved characters over, meaning we’ve done a few ‘guild runs’, but mostly we’re still all a bunch of ships passing in the night. Maybe that will change in time, but there’s no rush at least!

As for me personally, I’ve finished leveling up E-Warrior, and have been sporadically working on E-Priest and V-Rogue as well. V-DK gained another level from just JC Dailies, which never ceases to amuse me. I’ve also been slowly but surely working my way through “mogging” various characters. While some, like E-Hunter, had outfits ready way before the patch dropped, others have been more difficult.

E-Mage, for example, has essentially just been following the ‘wear what you got’ philosophy, which wasn’t too horrible since the stuff from the newest dungeons actually looks pretty good. Still, the individual in me wanted something a bit different, so I’ve been going through the WoW Model Viewer, trying to find something that screamed at me, “E-MAGE!”. Finally, I think I’ve found that look.

Here’s a list of what she’s wearing. I think if I add a cape, it will be the Silvermoon City one, as both a nod to her heritage as well as the nice similar color scheme.

I hope that in the next few days (weeks?), I’ll post more of my looks.

The Happy Ending

In the last post I made, I mentioned in passing how several of my characters had joined a level 25 guild on my home server, an opportunity that seemed too good to be true. Not too long after I joined I found out that the GM had purchased the guild and was mass-inviting hundreds of people daily. My gut said something was amuck, and unfortunately, I was dead right.

In the middle of last week, I logged onto V-Druid to find him unguilded. Immediately, I alt-tabbed to a browser, to pull up E-Hunter on the armory – and discovered that the entire guild was gone. Looks like the guy who had purchased it had moved it to another server – without a word of warning or anything to those he left behind.

It initially irked me – but it also inspired me. I set about researching how much gold it would cost to buy a “high level” guild, and then started researching those types of guilds on my home server, honing in on ones that had no noticable activity in several months. Almost immediately I found one that I knew would be a winner – a level 23 guild that had 30 members, and the only one with any activity recently was the GM. I tossed him an ingame mail, made him an offer, and the next day, E-Hunter was the GM of that guild, which has since undergone a name change.

All I can suggest to those who might read this, who aren’t happy with their current guild environment, and especially those with gold that they don’t know what to do with – consider buying an inactive guild on your server (or if you have the cash to move it, on another server). The move has inspired a friend to start playing again, as she’s now getting to enjoy all the perks that high level guilds offer.

With regards to my alts, I’ve shuffled up who’s in what guild, and also moved my lone “off-server” character back onto my home server. Right now he, V-Warlock, is serving as the ‘runner’ to the bank guild on the V-Account, while E-Priest is serving the same purpose on the E-Account. I also handed off control of the guild V-DK was running (for the aforementioned friend to use as her bank guild), and disbanded a guild that I never did anything with on E-Shaman. I still have a 5 tab guild bank being held by V-Rogue, but I’m sure I’ll be rid of that one soon as well, too.

I may yet make changes, but for the moment, I’m very content with the moves that I have made.

Just a few Heirlooms

If you’ve looked at my cast of characters, you’ve noticed that I’ve got some really low-level characters that I essentially started and just abandoned.

As my “little warrior” gets ever closer to level cap, I’ve started making preparations for the next character(s) to be leveled up, which means filling in the gaps of my heirlooms, and mailing them off to be applicable alts.

I should pause here and mention that there’s been a drastic change in my Guild structure in the last week – I joined a level 25 guild and with E-Hunter, have been grinding guild reputation like crazy so that I’d have access to the heirlooms, which I now do. I should also add that outside of my bank alt, the only two characters who remain in my bank guild are V-Shaman and E-Mage, and that they are now my distribution points for materials to the rest of the army.

But, back on the subject of little alts. I finally have acquired enough heirlooms to feel comfortable playing the little shaman, the one who will be leveling up with a dual spec of resto and elemental. Once I got her all outfitted up, I decided to jump into a battleground, since I could. I figured that I would get my hindquarters roundly handed to me since she was only level 11.

Boy was I wrong!

I soon discovered that wearing a slew of heirlooms made me so overpowered it was seriously laughable. Between the earth shield I kept on myself and spam casting Healing Wave, the Alliance were having a heck of a time attempting to kill me. The two times they did manage it, it was a case of 5 of them versus 1 of me. Yeah, just a little OP there.

I know this level of OP-ness will likely lessen as E-Shaman levels higher, but the sheer giggle-worthiness of tonights PVP adventure has me thinking that I’ll be doing this again sometime soon. It sure beats the monotony of dungeons!

In unrelated news, I did finally manage to pick up Stood in the Fire on E-Hunter, as well Got My Mind On My Money, and Vial of the Sands. That last one was especially gratifying – I’ve been putting aside just quest reward gold for awhile (and not touching my Auction House gold) to “save up” for that mount, and finally (and with the Level 24 guild perk) was able to buy all the purchasable mats.

Up next should be That’s A Lot of Bait, but that’s going to require the assistance of my new guild mates. Hopefully we’ll accomplish that soon!

Just a little bit of dust

I finally bit the bullet on something I’ve been considering for the past several days. As I mentioned in my “About the Alts” page, the bulk of my characters are all in the same “Bank Guild”, run by my “Bank Alt”. For the vast majority of the items I use (like the truegold, etc of yesterdays post), I’ve got room in the bank to just stash supplies and grab them as needed.

For enchanting mats, however, I’ve been mailing things back and forth between E-Hunter (the enchanter) and E-Mage (who is typically the last alt I log onto in my little “routine”). And while that method certainly works, it makes tracking things a bit of a pain in the rear – if I need one more [Dream Shard] for a scroll, I’d have to search all the open mails to see which one had the item. Doable, just time consuming.

So…I finally bought the 6th bank tab for my guild bank, and promptly filled it to the brim (and then some) with all my enchanting mats. I even overflowed into the tab where I normally keep my alchemy-powerleveling supplies!

If nothing else, this may get my whole enchanting ‘business’ more organized, since I clearly have an excess of [Arcane Dust]. Several BC era enchants still sell quite well, so perhaps my next post will reflect that.

Almost got [Stood in the Fire] today on E-Hunter…E-Priest died (again – she already has the achievement!) and by the time I was able to switch over and get E-Hunter to Uldum, the zone was back to normal. But lesson learned – I’m now leaving E-Hunter there so I can become Hunter Flambe and add to my achievement points.

Welcome to my little slice of the web. I thought I’d use this first post to give you an idea of what a typical Warcraft day is like for me, an admitted altoholic. You’ll find I use nicknames for my characters here – you can learn more about “the alts” by going to this page.

I start on my bank alt, the guild master of my bank guild, canceling all my undercut auctions, grabbing any items from the mailbox that have ended (and collecting any gold I haven’t already used the Mobile Auction House to collect), and relisting all those auctions. Anything I bought gets either mailed to the character who will use it, or stuck in the collective guild bank. Occasionally, if I see a deal on an item, or something one of the alts could use for gear, I’ll buy that, too.

From there…

I go through 15 [Pyrium Bar]s, 50 (each) [Volatile Water], [Volatile Fire], and [Volatile Air], 15 [Volatile Life], and 9 (each) [Carnelian], [Alicite], [Hessonite], [Jasper], [Nightstone], and [Zephyrite].

I make (minimum) 5 [Truegold], 1 [Transmute: Living Elements] (to Air usually but occasionally Water), and 3 [Fire Prism]s.

I send the raw gems from the [Fire Prism]s off to my various JC (I have 3 total) to cut into gems to be resold on the Auction House.

I convert Netherweave to [Bolt of Netherweave], and make [Netherweave Bag]s.

During a holiday (like we’re in at the time this is posted), I’ll queue up on all eligible characters – that’s 8 at the moment!

That may sound like a lot of monotony, but I’ve got it down to a routine. For several of my characters, I’m only on them for a matter of minutes, just long enough to do a transmute and mail the creation to the next character.

There are also other little things that may occasionally go on – disenchanting on E-Hunter, making enchanting rods on E-DK, or smelting [Pyrite Ore] into [Pyrium Bar]s on V-Paladin.

But but but … do I have fun?

Yes, yes I do. Though I don’t really raid anymore (that may change with the raid finder changes in 4.3), I still find plenty of things to do to keep myself occupied. I hit up old dungeons/raids for gear, mounts, or pets…I run dailies…I work on improving the quality of the various characters I play.

This blog will essentially be a journey through those types of adventures, as I have them. I’ll comment on achievements I may have earned, new pets I’ve acquired, or characters “ding”ing. (Hey, Gratz Mon!) I’ll talk about upcoming game changes as they affect a non-raider, talk about soloing all content…anything that goes on could end up grist for my writing…
